In this competitive world shrouded by urban doubt & unrest, we endure to bring to your child the atmosphere of peace, progress & prosperity through St. Xavier Convent school. This Educational institution founded in April 1997 envisages to set an exemplary benchmark in the history of J&K state in the field of education. The Management is thankful to the intellectuals of Jammu for their overwhelming response. St. Xavier Convent Sr. Sec. School is an English Medium, co-educational school, established in 1997. As any good institution, the school is very conscious of the quality of its finished product-the child'. The resultant fruit of a well developed and all-round well balanced personality is harvested by the school after long, onerous, time-consuming and tedious hours of labor put in by a competent team of trained, zealous and devoted teachers. It takes years of unstinted effort to form traditions which go a long way in building the reputation of an institution. It is through our rigorous schedules and arduous activities coupled with ample recreation and personal individual attention that we all here at St. Xavier Convent strives to sculpt our students into well educated, disciplined, law abiding and responsible citizens, which is the ultimate aim of the school. It is our endeavor to shape and mold our students with the help of modern educational techniques and psychological handling into physically fit, mentally alert, honest, responsible and patriotic citizens, having a sense of fair play, love for their parents, loyalty for their country and respect for all mankind. This was analyzed due to the following factors which the intelligenstia dream & we try to translate:—
1. The experienced, dedicated, intelligent & cultured teaching staff forming M.Sc, MA., B.Sc., B.A, M.Ed., B.Ed, NTTC, KG Trained 66%, conventees 16% & 18% general line teachers.

3. 1:18 teacher taught ratio to impart well groomed educational back up.
4. Higher paid teacher per working hour in any autonomous Non -Govt. organization devoted to promotion of educational facilities in the fast emerging trends in the rural area.
5. The Educational Institution provides orientation lectures to their teachers for academic upgradation & acceleration of educational professionalism.
School Timings
The regular academic session in the school's new batch will start from 1st week of April, each year. The timings shall be as under:-
Summer: 8:00 A.M to 2:00 P.M.
Winter: 8:30 A.M to 2:30 P.M.
Conveyance/ School Bus
It is not compulsory for the child to use the school bus. Presently the school is running 27 Buses / Matadors on contract / hire charges basis. The school maintains only 10 buses. They bring the children in the morning and drop them back after the school closes. The routes on which these facilities are available are as under.

Note: Bus Stop is considered for five children at one place.
The bus charges have to be deposited quarterly i.e. in the first week of April, August, November & February. Except summer holidays of 1 1⁄2 month, no other holidays will be deducted towards less realization of charges. The school proposes to introduce more buses on the routes if the no, of children on a particular route increases. The parents once opting for transport shall not alter the mode up to six months & that also with prior information of one month's notice in advance to the school.
Uniform
SUMMER (BOYS) :
1st to 5th: Light Grey Short, white half sleeved shirt with monogram, school tie,
school belt, gray socks and black leather plain shoes.
6th onwards: Pants shall be there instead of shorts.
SUMMER (GIRLS):
1st to 5th: White half sleeved shirt with monogram, Light Grey skirt, school tie, school belt, Grey Stockings, Black Shoes (Ballerina) Maroon Hair bands, Marron ribbons.
6th onwards: Divided skirt shall be there in use instead of normal skirt
WINTER (BOYS)
1st to 5th: Dark Grey Flannel trousers, white full sleeved shirt with monogram, Maroon Pullover, Maroon blazer, School tie, Maroon Woolen Caps, Maroon woolen mufflers, Maroon woolen hand gloves.
WINTER (GIRLS)
6th onwards: White full sleeved shirt, Dark gray divided skirt, Maroon pullovers, Maroon blazer, school tie, gray woolen caps, Maroon woolen mufflers, Maroon woolen hand glove, Grey woolen stockings above knee height and black shoes (Ballerina), Maroon woolen/ Silk scarfs.
Location of the School
The school is located on the main road Barnai. It is a 48 feet wide road forming a link from 6th km of Jewel Chowk, Jammu-Akhnoor road to Bantalab. It is in the urban background but away from the noise and a mind refreshing, pollution free air and surroundings. The school is having 3 spacious and good playgrounds equipped with swings, merry-go-round, slide, seesaw, Kho-Kho poles, Badminton court, Basketball court, stand ball court etc. The flowers and shrubs are reflective of nature's bounty. The school infrastructure is adequate and additions and improvements are constantly being carried out.
Games and Sports
The games & sports are compulsory for the physical and mental development of the child. The games are played both inside & outside according to rules but sports are only played outside and many sports do not conform to rigid rules. The success & victory in games & sports depends upon composite factors like intelligence, skill, strength, alertness, reflexes, luck etc. Notwithstanding the utilization of leisure time & breaking of monotony; the development of sportsmanship results in fair play, team-spirit, leadership, self-confidence, brotherhood & friendship etc. Activating these traits channelises discipline, confidence, courage, spirit of sacrifice & a measure of healthy living.
Co-Curriculer activities
All Saturday's Co- Curricular activities are observed. To facilitate maximum participation of the teacher's & the student's four houses are constituted :
1. Red House
2. Green House
3. Yellow House
4. Blue House
The participation of teachers & the taught results in harmonizing the activities & synchronizing the events. These are categorized as :
1. House competition & activities.
2. Inter-House competition & activities.
3. Class competition & activities. -
Some of the different activities listed for the year & stressed upon by the school are Recitation, Music, Debating/speech making, paper reading, dance, Quiz, Mimicry, Dramatics, creative writing etc.
Discipline
Relying more on affectionate encouragement to the children and keeping with the modern concepts of psychological handling of children, it is best endeavor of the school to inculcate the habit of self-discipline in the children, nonetheless, it has to be understood that discipline, if imposed, is in the best interest of the child. To assist in maintaining a high standard of discipline we seek the cooperation of the parents. Therefore, the parents/guardians are requested to read, sign and strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the school which are enclosed.
